Synod Operations Manager Announcement

June 22, 2021

22 June 2021

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I am delighted to announce that Fleur Crowe has accepted our offer of the position of Synod Operations Manager. As a qualified CPA, her key responsibilities will include the oversight of Finance and Property matters. She joins us with a wealth of skills and experience after working across a range of complex industries and sectors including Community Services, Government, and Resources and Energy. This is an interim position with the view to a permanent role should both Fleur and the Synod agree to continue.

Fleur lives locally and comes to us with many years of leadership and team management experience, as well as experience implementing organisational improvement and changes. Most importantly she has had significant experience working with First Peoples in WA and NT in several roles and understands the cultural aspect of the role. She also has a keen interest in the environment, climate change and sustainable living.

At this stage Fleur will commence in her role on Monday 19 July 2021 however she is hoping she may be able to join us a little earlier. She will be attending the Uniting Church Office this week for a briefing with me and John Kitchener on the operations and finances. We will take the opportunity to introduce her to staff. I will also arrange for Fleur to meet members of the Synod Standing Committee (SSC) and Finance and Property Committee (FAPS) at their upcoming meetings.
Part of Fleur’s induction will be organising meetings with representatives from our Presbyteries, Congregations, Nungalinya College and other Northern Synod affiliated organisation’s to meet them to begin to understand their roles and organisation’s operations and purpose.

I believe Fleur has much to offer the Northern Synod and look forward to her meeting with you soon. Please join me in welcoming her.

Sincerely,

Rev Haloti Kailahi
General Secretary
