Northern Synod MODERATOR’S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE 2023

December 21, 2023

GOD IS WITH US – IN THE LIVING STORY – THROUGH THE LIVING WORD

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The fourth Sunday in Advent falls on December the 24th this year.  The Lectionary Readings include 2 Samuel 7: 1-11, 16 ‘God’s Covenant with David’ and Luke 1: 26-38 ‘The Birth of Jesus Foretold’.  Two great stories of two unlikely candidates, being David the shepherd-boy-become-king; and Mary, the teenage mother of Jesus.

Perhaps the most remarkable thing in the lives of these two reasonably unremarkable

Moderator’s Christmas Message 2022 – Through The Eyes Of The Shepherds

November 25, 2022

THROUGH THE EYES OF THE SHEPHERDS                                                 December 2022

We read that Mary and Joseph travel to Bethlehem, and

6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him

October 10, 2022

CHANGE OF SEASON                                                              September / October  2022

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Today was hot in Darwin.  I have been aware for a month or so that the weather was changing.  The cool Dry Season is gone and in its place are balmy nights and warm days with slowly climbing humidity; not yet ‘build-up’ but heading in that direction.  Yesterday some huge towers of fluffy clouds built throughout the day and today is just plain HOT!

The change of seasons is
