NRCC Educator for Central Australia

A position exists, based in Alice Springs, for a Minister of the Word or Deacon or appropriately qualified and experienced lay person, for Educator of Indigenous members of the Uniting Church in Central Australia. The position involves delivering coures in Alice Springs and in the communities of northern South Australia. Developing working relationships with members of NRCC and mentoring emerging leaders is a vital aspect of the position.

Responsibilities
Assist the Aṉangu’ku Area Ministry Council of the NRCC through the provision of appropriate education, mentoring and training for Ministers, Pastors, Elders, other leaders and NRCC members.

Act as an adjunct Uniting Church Lecturer for Nungalinya College and Yalga-Binbi Community Development Institute as they continue to develop a presence in Central Australia.

Work ecumenically to devleop opportunities for education and training for Christian ministry, both lay and ordained, on a co-operative basis in Central Australia.

Qualifications
Qualifications and experience in theology and adult education are essential. Experience in teaching cross-culturally, particularly with Indigenous Australians is highly desirable.

Accountability
This position is a placement within the NRCC, a Regional Council of the UAICC and a Presbytery of the Northern Synod. As such, the Educator is subject to the Code of Ethics for Ministers of the Uniting Church and expected to be an active participant in the councils of the Church.
