Installation of Moderator for Northern Synod

On Saturday 20 June, in Darwin Memorial Uniting Church, Rev Thresi Mauboy Wohangara was installed as the Moderator of the Northern Synod for the next three years.

The installation was preceded by dinner on the lawn at Darwin Memorial Uniting church, provided by the Indonesian Missionary congregation for members attending the Annual Synod meeting and guests. Following the installation service, members of the Philadelphia congregation provided supper.

Special guests at the installation were Rev Tony Floyd and his wife Shirley, recently retired as National Director of the Multicultural and Cross-cultural Ministry; Rev Dr Ji Zhang, Manager, Church Partnerships Asia; Rev Eseta Meneilly, Multicultural and Cross-Cultural Ministry;  and Rev Anthon Rumbewas, Vice Chairperson of the Theological College in Papua.

Dancers from the Indonesian community led the official party into the church and Wanda, Wendy and Darmi, also from the Indonesian community, sang Heart as a Servant. Yopie Patinasarany sang Love and Faithfulness.

Liusem Mauboy, Rev Thresi’s son, was able to travel from Adelaide where he is studying to attend his mother’s installation and gave the reading of the Gospel – 1 Samuel 3:1-10.

Rev Thresi has chosen as her theme for the next three years the story in 1 Samuel 3:1-10 – By Him, Through Him, For Him: To God be the Glory Forever.
