MODERATOR’S LETTER – CHANGE OF SEASON      Sept / Oct  2022

October 10, 2022

CHANGE OF SEASON                                                              September / October  2022

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Today was hot in Darwin.  I have been aware for a month or so that the weather was changing.  The cool Dry Season is gone and in its place are balmy nights and warm days with slowly climbing humidity; not yet ‘build-up’ but heading in that direction.  Yesterday some huge towers of fluffy clouds built throughout the day and today is just plain HOT!

The change of seasons is

The change of seasons is again upon us.

AFTER PENTECOST                                                                                              July 2022

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

There is a season on the Christian Lectionary Calendar that is called ‘After Pentecost’.  I like the sound of that.  It reminds me that we live in the time ‘after Pentecost’, which means we live in the times after the Holy Spirit came upon the early followers of Jesus and gave them greater courage and faith.  As ‘After Pentecost’ people, we can live with courage and faith too, because we know

MODERATOR’S COMMENT – Do Justice, Love Kindness and Walk Humbly

March 12, 2022

(Thinking about Kumanjayi Walker and Constable Rolfe)

I am feeling deeply distressed.  Many people have expressed their feelings of distress to me since yesterday’s ‘Not Guilty’ verdict.  I am compelled to comment.  So I write.

The verdict in the Rolfe trial regarding Kumanjayi Walker’s death, has raised emotions again and split public opinion.  My distress comes from thinking about Kumanjayi’s family and community; thinking about the Warlpiri
